HOLT RENFREW COMES TO SUNNYBROOK

All things equestrian have a habit of showing up wherever fall fashion is concerned, and this autumn is no exception. Just a few months ago Sunnybrook hosted Holt Renfrew Canada while they shot their 2016 Fall Catalogue. The stables were swept and ponies were primped in preparation for the big day, and the Holt Renfrew team was treated to some classic Sunnybrook hospitality. The big stars of the shoot were school favourite Queenie as well as Stable Manager Julianne Clifford’s own Sunnybrook resident horse Flight. Both Sunnybrook horses were featured, with Flight getting the cover!

The catalogue debuted in October, so the next time you are out shopping, keep your eyes peeled for our ultra- chic Sunnybrook horses!

SHOW TEAM UPDATE

On August 21st, the Sunnybrook team was back at it once again with an excellent presentation of horses and riders at the Teen Ranch Summer Series Finale. All riders came home with great ribbons in their respective divisions. Sunnybrook favourites Sherlock, Seven, Marty, Poomba and Polka were all piloted expertly around by Sunnybrook riders to an excellent finish.

A special congratulations goes out to Ian Vyse who enjoyed a successful first horse show ever with SB Polka Face in the Green Hunter division. Ian came home with a 6th place ribbon against both amateur and professional riders, and a great big smile!

Stay tuned for updates from our next round of horse shows this Autumn as Sunnybrook looks to tackle the fall circuit in 2016! Our next show will be the Erin Fall Fair on Saturday October 8th. If you find yourself in the area, drop by to cheer on our horses and riders!

SUMMER CAMP 2016 COMES TO A CLOSE

fallnewsletter2_6

As we wrap up yet another successful season of Summer Camp, we would like to give a big Sunnybrook “thank you!” to all those who help make our camps possible. The horses, coaches, counsellors, stable team and administrative staff all work tirelessly each year to put on a truly unforgettable experience for our campers.

Each session, it is such a pleasure to watch our campers explore different faculties of the equestrian experience. Future grand prix riders flourish under the careful instruction of our experienced coaches in their twice daily lessons.

Meanwhile, veterinarians in the making relish in stable management sessions and Q& A’s with our resident vet and farrier. Veteran campers show the ropes to the novices while our tried and true herd of horses help our campers create memories that will last a lifetime. Each season of camp is a truly unparalleled experience for campers and staff alike.

Thank you to all who make our camps possible!

Last month, Sunnybrook student- turned international competitor- turned Sunnybrook coach Alex Meghji enjoyed great success at this year’s North American Junior and young rider championships. Alex anchored the Canadian team to a silver medal finish on the podium.

Alex now sets her sights to a spot on a future Olympic team. Might we see this pair in 4 years time representing Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games? Only time will tell!
